Work Health and Safety Management System (Safety Manual)

Historically in Australia, every state has had its own Workplace Health and Safety Legislation and their own versions of a safety manual, which had very different requirements for each state.

Then in 2011 there was the introduction of the Safe Work Australia Harmonisation Legislation.

What this means is the majority of states have come on board with the new legislation (exceptions are Victoria and Western Australia). The reason for the introduction of the harmonisation, is to have one standardised approach for Workplace Health and Safety across Australia. Although the legislation has been harmonised, there are still state variations where necessary.

A requirement of the legislation is to have documented systems and processes. The easiest way to document a Workplace Health and Safety Management System (or Safety Manual) is to use the Australian Standard AS/NZS4801:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System as a guide for both structure and implementation.

At Zero Exposure Solutions we are able to provide a WHS Management System (or Safety Manual) that is tailored to your business and your industry specific needs. This Management System has been written in line with the Australian Standard AS/NZS 4801:2001 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems and relevant Legislation. By purchasing this Management System (Manual), it eliminates the burden on your business in documenting relevant policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

The Management System consists of policies, procedures, forms/templates and registers. Policies are the ‘statement of intent’ of the business or organisations commitment to key risks and identified business objectives. Procedures, forms, templates, registers etc have been designed to support and fulfill those commitments made in the policy.
